Project Proposal
1.0 Prsonal Learning Needs
To elevate my unstanding and technical skills in producing effective online presentation through learning and applying Cascade Style Sheet (CSS) technology under the xhtml stardard.
1.1 SWOT Analysis
Strengths
- Professional photographic and darkroom experience with traditional and digital media
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in relevant software application
- Qualified international marketer with strong presentation skills both online and offline
- Web design experience
- Strong people skills extended to cultural diverse environment
- Ability to manoeuvre a smorgasbord of software applications in a productive manner to generate effective presentation for both business and general demonstrations
- Multilingual skills
Weaknesses
- Typing skills in other languages are not as effective as in English, which can be a weakness when working on multilingual digital media
- Need more knowledge and skills on database to build shopping carts and sophisticated database websites
Opportunities
- The digital media technologies subject is a platform for further enhancing my combined skills and experience
- The ever changing technology in interactive media continues to generate new opportunity for producing more effective presentation for both business and non-profit purposes
- Newly available technology and devices make learning and information delivery more effective, eg, my palm computer is reducing paper usage and the need to carry a laptop everywhere
- Opportunity to learn from the lectures and fellow students with diverse skills and similar passion
- The rich resources made available by UTS and my expanding social, educational and business networks
Threats
- Digital media technologies continue to develop, which makes some known technology obsolete.
- Time constraint in balancing learning and other things in life. As digital media is getting more time consuming to deal with, new strategy is needed to address this threat.
1.2 Learning Needs in DMT
To learn CSS technology and xhtml standard, particularly xhtml 1.0 transitional standard.
2.0 Learning Plan
2.1 Objectives
To learn CSS and apply them on web design in xhtml stardard.
2.2 Strategies
I will first learn xhtml standard and how css technology work. Then build a coverpage for a website with these technologies.Specifically, the completed coverpage will be constructed with CSS and the all codes witten will conform the xhtml standard. Supporting pages may be built in the process, but the coverpage is the chief outcome of the project.
The project will be contained in a relatively small scale to ensure core learning objectives will be achieved within the given time frame. It will also be an expandable project, on which additional elements can be easily added in the future.
2.3 Resources
- XHTML, particularly xhtml 1.0 transitional stardard.
- CSS
(see the "References" section for more information)
3.0 Proposed Project Description
A CSS-enhanced, flexible and expandable coverpage that conforms xhtml stardard. I have not previously used these technologies. The project will allow me to learn these technologies and apply them to produce more effective online presetations.
